ARE WE CLEAR ON THE RULES HERE NOW ?

We are new to HubPages and this is our first successfull post if you are reading it now.

But in fact this is our third attempt at making a post here ! :-)

Our first was deemed to be too promotional, contain too much duplicate content (snippets all taken from our main website) and too many outbound links (one to our main website and another to a subdomain at our website linking to a FREE Video Course site and an end of post signature hyperlink to the post directed to our main website home page).

So we tried again and cut out most of the copy and added just the two recommended maximum links and that one was then rejected because it was deemed to be TOO SHORT an article to be allowed to contain ANY links ... LOL

So here we are scratching our heads wondering exactly HOW we are going to get some great free video tutorial information to you that will help you understand how to set up a web business from scratch which will then enable you to get started making money online.

Let's look at the main reasons for rejection by Admin ...

Too promotional ? Too much duplicate content ? Too short ? Too many links ?

We have been online a while now with the sole intention of making money ... we are not messing about aimlessly surfing with no real plan or purpose in mind or online just to have some fun and while away a few hours.

Earning money online will always require some form of promotion and we adhere totally to the "No Spam" ethic but without "promotion" there will be no progress in our online business. Our view is that if the increasing clampdown online towards promotional "activities" continues this will lead to a stifling of eCommerce online which will only serve to limit customer choice overall.

If we personally choose to read an article or a post on any website it will be because we have an interest in the post headline. If the narrative then contains links or references to subjects that we have no interest in we don't get offended, upset or look to make a complaint ... we just ignore the link and continue reading.

We take the view that if we find just one "nugget" of information that can help us then reading the whole article will have been worthwhile ... if not then we just quietly move on.

The things we are looking to write about will be highlighting products or services that we firmly believe will HELP other people who are also interested in starting an online business to make money and that surely in these uncertain economic times is much needed by many people .

With that in mind then of course our posts are going to be seen as "promotional" but for the ease of use for our readers our posts will contain direct links or hyper links so that access to the information can be opened up and viewed in a new window with ease.

That will leave the reader on the original HubPages site and on closure of the new window they will then be able to continue reading the rest of the post or search out other HubPages.

As for advertising which is by definition "promotional" then we signed up here knowing that the site is already being monetised with Google AdSense ads surrounding our posted text which will benefit us by revenue share AND benefit HubPages too so this site overall is not exactly an Ad Free Zone is it so why the heavy hitting "too promotional" tag ?

We copied snippets from our main website and this got tagged under "duplicate content" and we were informed that although duplicate content was not a problem the issue was that any posted article containing duplicate content could not then have links embedded within it.

So it looks like it's ok to scrape content from all over the web to our HubPages posts and then sit back and wait for the revenue adsense share as long as we don't add any links ... how bizarre but will give it some thought as an option.

Too short ... just one question for Admin on that point ... how short is TOO short ?

[Is there also a TOO long limit that we might breach in the future ?]

Too many links ... as we understand it that's a maximum of two outbound links or it seems ANY number of links to HubPages content within a post (unless it's duplicate content !) :-)

Well that's all points covered ... we think ?

So,to allow us to make a start on here then we have split our article up and this is the first part. Hopefully Admin will not have any problems at all with it and you will get to read it.

The actual article content we initially tried to post we will attempt to put in another post so if after reading this we have nothing else to show or share with you then you'll know that Admin have again objected and we will have to keep trying to get our message out somehow.

This whole process reminds us of a planning application we made not so long ago.

The planning department will not simply sit down with us and discuss what we have in mind but ask instead for full plans of what we want to do in a specified format within some stated "outline" rules of submission.

We then have to formally lodge the plans and apply for permission to build. They then look at it and can just "reject" it ... no detailed reason, no suggestions or hint at what changes "might" be acceptable !

We then have to try and "guess" what is in the planners minds bearing in mind the rejection is accompanied by a vague sentence that just doesn't get specific enough to give us a real clue as to what we actually need to change at the detailed level.

So we take a guess, amend the plans and submit again ... and again ... and etc

It took nearly 18 Months !

Hopefully it won't take that long before we get our second post accepted ... assuming this one isn't rejected also ? :-)
